Exterior Painting Adelaide

Most exterior paint jobs start peeling within three years — not because of the climate, but because of what got skipped on the way in. We never skip.

Adelaide's UV Destroys Unprepared Surfaces. What We Do Differently.

South Australia carries one of the highest UV indexes on the planet. Summers hit 40°C+. Coastal suburbs — Glenelg, Henley Beach, Semaphore — face constant salt air. Standard exterior paints aren't built for this. Cheap prep under cheap paint means you're calling someone back within three years.

We use Wattyl Solagard and Haymes Ultra Shield — UV-stabilised coatings formulated specifically for SA conditions — applied over thorough surface preparation. That prep is 60% of what separates a 3-year job from a 12-year job. We never skip it, and it's the only reason we can back our work with a 10-year workmanship guarantee.

What We Offer

Exterior Painting Services

Every Adelaide exterior — weatherboard, render, brick, or timber deck. One team. Done properly.

Weatherboard & Cladding

The most common exterior surface in Adelaide's inner suburbs — and the most abused by painters who rush prep. We hand-scrape every flaking section, treat rot and mould where we find it, prime bare timber before a drop of colour goes on, and apply two full coats of UV-stable paint. The prep is what makes it last.

Rendered & Brick Homes

Hairline cracks in render aren't cosmetic — they let moisture in, and moisture destroys coatings from behind. We fill every crack before paint goes on, then apply breathable masonry paint that lets walls exhale without lifting. For brick, specialist masonry coatings that penetrate and bond, not just sit on the surface.

Coastal Properties

Salt air is the enemy of standard exterior paint. For Glenelg, Henley Beach, Semaphore, and Brighton properties, we use marine-grade coatings with a higher film build specifically chosen for coastal exposure. The extra cost per litre adds years — sometimes decades — to the job.

Deck & Pergola Staining

Timber decks in Adelaide's climate cop full UV, summer heat, and moisture — usually all in the same week. We sand back weathered timber, clean it properly, and apply penetrating or film-forming stains matched to your species and exposure level. Not a one-size-fits-all product.

Our Process

How We Work

Six steps. No shortcuts. This is exactly what happens on every exterior job we take on.

01

Surface Assessment

We inspect every surface in person — rot, mould, adhesion failure, render cracks — before quoting. We don't guess at prep costs from photos.

02

Pressure Washing

High-pressure washing strips chalk, dirt, mould, and any loose paint that would cause adhesion failure. Clean surfaces are non-negotiable before coatings go on.

03

Repairs & Filling

Every crack, gap, and damaged section is filled, sanded smooth, and treated for mould or moisture. This step is invisible once we're done — but you'll feel it in ten years.

04

Primer Application

Bare surfaces and problem areas get the correct primer for the substrate. Timber, render, brick, and metal each need different products. We don't use one-size primer on everything.

05

Two-Coat Painting

Two full coats of quality exterior coating applied during appropriate weather — not in 38°C heat, not while it's raining, not rushed to make a schedule. Done right or not at all.

06

Final Inspection

We walk the full perimeter with you before packing up. Every surface checked in natural light. You tell us you're happy before we call it done.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A well-prepped exterior with quality coatings should last 10–12 years. Coastal suburbs or properties with high sun exposure may see six to eight years before they need attention. Signs it's time: paint that chalks off on your hand, peeling or cracking sections, or colour that's faded unevenly.
We use Wattyl Solagard and Haymes Ultra Shield — both UV-stabilised, Australian-made, and formulated for SA conditions. We select the specific product based on your surface type (timber, render, brick, masonry) and how much direct sun and salt exposure your home gets. We won't substitute these with cheaper alternatives to sharpen a quote.
We won't apply coatings in 38°C+ conditions — extreme heat affects how paint cures and shortens coating life. We schedule exterior work for the cooler part of the day and plan jobs around the forecast. If a heatwave lands mid-job, we pause rather than push through.
A standard single-story home takes three to five days. Two-story and larger properties typically need five to eight days. We give you a specific day count in your written quote, and we'll flag any weather holds in advance so you can plan around them.
Not for most of the job. Once we've walked the property together and you're happy with the plan, we work independently. We'll be on-site the first morning to confirm access and check in as needed, and we do a final walk-around with you when the job is complete.
A single-story three to four bedroom home typically costs $3,500–$7,000, depending on surface area, surface type, and prep condition. We provide detailed fixed-price written quotes — no hourly rates, no open-ended scope. The number you get is the number you pay.
